Alton McElveen was a gentle soul, full of love, laughter, and strength. He was born on June 23, 1950, to Annie McElveen Emanuel and Wilbert Anderson, and lived a life rooted in work and family. Alton entered into eternal rest peacefully on January 12, 2026.

Alton received his formal education in Florence Public Schools. He was a skilled and dedicated brick mason by trade. A cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Alton's life was centered around his family. He was a loving husband, brother and devoted son. His wisdom, humor, and steady presence will be remembered forever.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Annie McElveen Emanuel, his father Wilbert Anderson, and his two children, Daniel Pigett and Sharon Pigett.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife Sarah McElveen; his children, Jason (Nicole) Godbolt, Decola (Michael) McCall-James, Alton (Christal) McElveen, Jr., Davita Thomas, Ron Pigett, Angleron (Calvin) Sellers, Eugene Pigett, Latisha (Cory) Cooper, Gwinada Madison, and Frederick (Marquita) Pigett; his siblings, Alfonzia (Claudia) McElveen and George Ray McElveen, both of Florence, SC, Anne (Donald) Hardee of Reisterstown, MD, Wilbert McNeal of Baltimore, MD, Linda O' Brien of Randallstown, MD, Barbara Epps, of Baltimore, MD, Jerry Anderson, Jacquline  Anderson of Baltimore, MD, Octavia Anderson-Willians of Gastonia, NC, and Sherman Anderson Of Baltimore, MD; and a special aunt Shirley McElveen, and his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.

Alton McElveen will be remembered for his strong hands, loving heart, and the enduring foundation he laid for generations to come.
