Smoot Funderburk
February 20, 1950 – December 6, 2025
Angerlyn "Angie/Sista" Smoot Funderburk, daughter of the late Betty Ann Nowlin Smoot and Charlie Leroy Smoot, was born February 20, 1950 in Florence County. She departed this life on December 6, 2025, in MUSC.
Angie was educated through Florence School District One and a proud graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1968.
She was preceded in death by her sister Lisa Brown and loving grandparents that raised her Willie "Preacher" and Fannie Williams Nowlin of the Savannah Grove Community.
Angie was a devoted worker for Mecklenburg Transit System for 15+ years. After retirement due to health issues, Angie returned home in 2012 to the homestead on Nowlin Circle.
Growing up, Angie was known to be the life of the party with her brother Rick. She loved to laugh, dance and spend time with family and friends. Angie also had a green thumb and a vision for interior decorating.
Angie leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons Eric (Teresa) Green of Quinby, SC and Albert (Cammie) Green of Charlotte, NC; three loving grandchildren Erica Green, Ahkytra Green and Dominique Davis; eight great grandchildren that she adored; three sisters Charlene Smoot, Cheryl Smoot and Doretha Smoot all of Florence, SC; two brothers Dea. Charles (Evelyn) Smoot of Florence, SC and Corresell "Rick" (Nell) Smoot of Timmonsville, SC; one aunt who was raised as her sister, Ivey Nowlin Staley of Timmonsville, SC and one uncle who was raised as her brother, Willie Nowlin, Jr. of Timmonsville, SC; as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving relatives and friends; special companion of the home, David Junior Dupree and special friend, Mrs. Althea Collins of Charlotte, NC.
Angie's memory and legacy will forever be cherished in the memory of those who loved her.
