Beatrice Chapman James, affectionately known to most as "Bee" was born July 2, 1949, in Patrick, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Laney Chapman and Lizzie Taylor. She was raised by the late Maggie Lighty. Beatrice Chapman James peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Life Care Center of Charleston SC, while under Hospice Care.
Beatrice attended Butler High School in Hartsville, South Carolina.
On November 18, 1972, Beatrice joined hands in holy matrimony with her soulmate, the late Henry Lee James Sr. Their union was blessed with seven children.
Devoted to her faith, Beatrice was a lifelong member of Palmetto Baptist Church. She attended and served faithfully in various roles until the declining of her health.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Carolyn Denise James, Cheryl James, Henry (Lisa) James Jr., Michael A. Chapman, Omeisha James and Dameon James all of Florence, SC, Marcus (Gloria) Chapman of Charleston, SC; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys (John) Allen of Chesapeake VA; one brother-in-law David James of Florence, SC; one sister-in-law Lois James of Florence, SC; a plethora of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and chosen family she developed over the course of her life. Beatrice, a woman of faith, strength, beauty, grace , and a large sense of humor will be remembered for her profound impact on her family, community and church. May she rest in eternal peace.
