Bukertee "BT" Legette, age 68, passed away on February 25, 2026, in Newark, New Jersey. He was born on June 2, 1957, in Marion, South Carolina, to the late Sylvester and Nellie Legette. Bukertee brought joy, laughter, and great energy to everyone around him throughout his life.

Bukertee had a deep love for music and dancing, passions that were a big part of his vibrant personality. Known for his lively spirit and confident nature, he was famous for saying, "Nobody could beat me in dancing." His enthusiasm for life was truly infectious and left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by ten brothers and one sister.

Bukertee leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Keshan Legette; two children, Zakaiyah Legette and Hassan Gawthney; and one granddaughter, Kapri Murray. He is also survived by one brother, Phillip Legette, and one sister, Aretha Legette-McCall, along with his favorite aunt, Elise Graves, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
