Mrs. Carolyn Echols-Shannon, daughter of the late Mr. Isaiah Echols and Mrs. Mae Ella Harrison-Echols, was born in Florence, SC on May 13, 1939. She departed this earthly life on February 17, 2023.

Mrs. Shannon was affectionately known as "Tougalunk" by her family and friends.

Mrs. Shannon joined Pentecostal United Apostolic Church where she was a member until her departure. Mrs. Shannon attended Florence County Public Schools. She was a 1958 graduate of Wilson High School. She joined the workforce at Carolina Hospital Systems where she served for 28 years as a housekeeping supervisor.

Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by her father, Isaiah Echols; her mother, Mae Ella Echols; six brothers Eugene Echols, Harry Echols, John   Echols, George Echols, Willie Echols and Lonnie Echols; three sisters Mary Lee Echols, Ella Echols-Johnson and Rebecca Echols-Alli.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband,   David W. Shannon; three daughters Angela (Marte) Shannon-Gass of Raleigh, NC, Michele Shannon of Florence, SC and Sandra Shannon of Johnsonville, SC; one son, Eric M. (Regina) Shannon of Columbia, SC; three sisters Ruth (Al) Henderson of Romeoville, IL, Margie Williams of Chicago, IL and Bessie Burgess of Florence, SC; three grandchildren Gregory Brown, Jr of Florence, SC, Ramon Gass and Martecia Gass both of Raleigh, NC; one great grandchild Landon Beavers of Raleigh, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
