Obituary

Chandler Vershad Dylan Martin was born on August 10, 2004, in Augusta, GA. He departed this life on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Chandler attended West Florence and Hartsville High Schools. He was employed with Oasis. Chandler also attended Carver Street Baptist Church and New Spring Church. Chandler believed in God.

Chandler, affectionately known as "Duke," was a skilled and inventive individual who enjoyed working with his hands, particularly in the repair of bicycles and various other creative endeavors. Chandler possessed a deep fascination with automobiles and admired the mechanics of their acceleration. His interest in cars extended to exploration and experimentation, exemplified by his ability to disassemble and reassemble a broken remote-control car, enhancing it with extra gears for improved jumping and more complex maneuvers.

Chandler also harbored a deep affection for dogs. His favorite dog was named Jack Frost, who was more than a simple pet. Jack was trained to perform tricks, such as leaping high, then rolling and feigning sleep. Chandler frequently took Jack on extended walks throughout the neighborhood. Chandler would then restrain Jack to allow others to pass safely, ensuring the security of everyone around him and Jack Frost.

Chandler was a loving and kind uncle to his nieces and nephews. He openly expressed his profound love to his mother. He enjoyed taking vacations and assisting his father with walking. He often sought his father's counsel when facing complex tasks, demonstrating his admiration for both of his parents.

Chandler was known for his genuine warmth and enormous compassion toward everyone he encountered. He was remarkably generous, offering the very clothes off his back to anyone in need. Chandler possessed a heart of gold. His family and friends were paramount to him. Chandler was, by all accounts, a true gentleman.

Chandler was preceded in death by one sister Kwaneshia Miller; maternal great-grandmother Dora Sumter-Martin-Miller; paternal great-grandmother Mrs. Lucinda Martin; maternal grandfather Benjamin Wardy Sr.; paternal grandmother Mrs. Virginia Brown; and Jessie "Jerrie" Brown, paternal grandfather.

Left to cherish his most precious memories are his parents, David and Lashannon Martin; ten siblings, Shakylia (Christopher) Hudson, Ginae Tomlinson, De'Mia Martin, De'Ori Martin, McKenzie Martin, and Lavetta Grant, Aniya (Jody) Hudson, Destiny (Keith) Martin, Donte Martin, and Shaquan James; five aunts, Lakeshia Miller, Vadia Hunter, Angela (Patrick) Wessells, Allison Wardy, and Passion (Frank) Martin; three uncles, Timothy (Nsombi) Miller, Derrick Brown, and Benjamin Wardy Jr.; six nieces, Ava, Cali, Jade, Symphony, Serenity, and Kaleigh; seven nephews, Jaquan, Kyzik, DeKeiven, Isaiah, Romar, Jeremiah, and Zyleek; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Miller; his paternal grandfather, David Martin Sr.; two aunts, Catherine Bostick and Rosa Lavette Martin; god siblings, Rayshonna Daniels and Messiah Williams; three special bonded cousins, Juelz Lucas, Cameron Young, and Michael Williams; and a host of family and loved ones whom he loved unconditionally.
