Charles Grant was born on April 16, 1943, in Florence, South Carolina, to the late Willie and Rebecca Allison Grant. He departed this earthly life on Monday, September 8, 2025, at MUSC Florence.

Charles received his education in the public schools of Florence  County.

He began his career at Tire's Muffler in 1976, he later joined Snider Tire, and was previously employed with Black's Tire. Throughout his professional life, Charles was known for his dedication and hard work.

A devoted member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Florence, SC, he served faithfully on the usher board. Charles was a pillar of strength and love, remembered as a true blessing to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Doretha Abraham, Rosa Cade, and Bessie Cooper; three brothers: George Grant, Willie Grant, and Sam Grant; two brothers-in-law: Henry Joe and Ronnie Stuckey; and one niece, Ayatullah Harrison.

He is fondly remembered by his devoted wife, Kensey Grant; eight children; three children and one grandchild resided in the home Victor (Lori Ann) Grant, Victoria Grant, Janette (Russel) Godwin, and Zavier Grant, all of Johnsonville, SC, as well as Jenet G. McClain of Fayetteville, NC, Margaret Ann Grant of Winston Salem, NC;  Charlene Grant and Moses Backus both of Georgia, and Charles Grant, Jr. of Germany; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Annette Harrison and Verlie Mae Stuckey both of Johnsonville, SC; one brother-in-law, Isaac Stuckey, II of Johnsonville, SC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
