Obituary

"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." – Proverbs 31:10

With loving remembrance, we honor the life and legacy of our beloved mother, Deaconess Sundrus Bostick, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at McLeod Hospital.

Our mother was born on February 28, 1951, in Lake City, South Carolina. She was the cherished daughter of the late Jannie Harris and Isom Graham. She was preceded in death by her son, Frederick Scriven; her sister, Lamar Ann Bostick; her twin brother, Andrew Bostick; and her grandmother, Lizzie Bostick, who played an intricate role in her upbringing.

Our mother received her education in the public schools of Florence County, South Carolina. For several years, she was employed as a sewing machine operator at Lake City Manufacturing and Cameron Town Manufacturing. Later in life, she became a licensed Daycare Provider, nurturing and caring for many children as if they were her own.

"Strength and honor are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness." – Proverbs 31:25–26

Throughout her life, she was a faithful and devoted member of Nettie's Temple First Born Church. She served diligently in numerous capacities, including Youth President, Youth Sunday School Teacher, President of the Usher Board, and the Youth Usher Board, Choir Member, Trustee Board Member, Finance Committee Member, Sunday School Secretary, Chairperson of Kitchen Aid, as well as District Deaconess and Diocese Deaconess. Her unwavering faith, servant leadership, and dedication to the work of the Lord left an indelible mark on her church family.

"Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." – Proverbs 31:29

Her beautiful legacy will be forever cherished by her loving children: Lamear Bostick and Tonny Scriven both of Cleveland, Ohio, Dierether Scriven and Tatum (Bryant) Barr both of Lake City, SC, and Garena Scriven Conyers of Columbia, SC; granddaughter/daughter, Kyshera Scriven of Elgin, SC; ladies whom our mother called "daughter," Pamela Julious and Tina Cates; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her heart. She is further survived by four sisters: Iris (Ernest) McFadden, Gail Brown, Inetha Hemingway, and SamanthaHarris;  three brothers: Keith (Linda) Harris, Oliver (Mamie) Harris, and Roger Harris; one aunt, Hester Cooper; a cousin with a sisterly bond, Margie Shaw; lifelong sister-friends, Jacqueline McCutcheon, Marlene Cooper, and Precious Graham; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

"Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." – Proverbs 31:31

Today, we celebrate the fruit of her hands, the lives she nurtured, the faith she instilled, the love she poured into her family, and the service she rendered so faithfully. Her works will continue to be praised through the generations she shaped and the many hearts she touched. Her legacy will live forever.
