Doris Ann
Pinkney
October 19, 1952 – September 30, 2025
Doris Ann Pinkney was born October 19, 1952 to her mother, Katie Frances "Kitty" Pinkney in Pamplico, South Carolina. She and her mother were best friends and lived with each other her entire life.
She was educated in Gibbs public schools of Pamplico, South Carolina.
Surrounded by love, Doris was called to her heavenly reward on September 30, 2025, at 4:41 pm, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Since a child, she suffered from kidney disease and received a transplant while in her twenties. With a life marked by quiet courage and extraordinary resilience, Doris defied many medical odds. She lived a beautiful full life (a miracle in itself) with her kidney transplant lasting an extraordinary 45 years, at a time when transplants were new and long-term survival uncertain. Doris embraced each day with gratitude and strength. Her tenacity turned what could have been a limitation into a powerful testament of hope and perseverance. Due to her health condition, she was forced to work from her home. Doris became a phenomenal homemaker and begin babysitting many children whom she always held dearly to her heart.
Doris was baptized and received Christ as her lord and savior at Mount Zion Chapel Baptist Church where she became a longstanding member. Doris had an exceptionally strong spiritual foundation as she loved church, bible study, reading her bible, religious TV shows and most recently she watched many social media videos involving Jesus and angels. Her favorite book in the bible was the chapter of Revelations.
Doris had many hobbies such as shopping, cooking, watching Sci-fi movies and all things involving flowers and gardening. She has always been very well-versed in politics and keeping up to date with the news. She had so much love and affection for pets such as fish, parakeets and cats.
She was preceded in transition by her grandmother, Bertha "Mama Bertha" Woodberry; grandfather, Hugee "Pop" Woodberry and niece Valerie Pinkney.
Left to cherish her memory is her dear mother, Katie Francis age 98, who shared every day of Doris's remarkable life as well as other loved ones, two sons, Brian Mandel Pinkney and Rodney Alexander Pinkney-Talbert; son in-law, JT Talbert-Pinkney; sister, Letha Mae Cain; brother, James Iven Pinkney; four beloved nieces, Jacqueline Cain (fiancé, Chris Burch), Marie Cain (wife, Sheila Foster), and Candis Pinkney; two nephews, Louis Christian and Exavious Villalobos; dear best friend, Mary Gordon and a host of other great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Though her earthly journey has ended, Doris's love and light remain with us. She will be profoundly missed by her devoted family, lifelong friends, and all who were blessed to share in her remarkable story.
