Dorothy Levonne
Fleming Belin
May 31, 1932 – December 31, 2025
"For now I am ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:6-7
Dorothy Levone Fleming Belin entered this world on May 31, 1932, in Johnsonville, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Joseph "Jack" Fleming and the late Mattie McNeil Fleming. She was raised within a nurturing family environment and received her education within the Florence County School District.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Belin exemplified diligence and dedication. She was employed for numerous years by GE of Florence and also contributed significantly to the operations of the family farm. At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ and became a devoted member of St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she worshipped faithfully until her health began to decline.
Affectionately known as "Deedot" by her loved ones, Mrs. Belin served her congregation in multiple capacities, including Stewardess, member of the Usher Board, missionary, and as one of the church's valued cooks. She was particularly renowned for her fried chicken, raisin cake, and nut cakes, and was appreciated for her generosity in providing meals to children within her community.
Mrs. Belin was united in matrimony to Jettney Belin, and their union was blessed with six children. She took great pleasure in hosting family gatherings, creating an atmosphere of warmth, laughter, and culinary delight that touched all who entered her home. Her hospitality extended beyond her immediate family to friends and neighbors alike.
On December 31, 2025, Mrs. Belin transitioned peacefully at her residence, entering eternal rest with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph "Jack" and Mattie McNeil Fleming; her husband, Jettney Belin; her son, Gerald Belin; brothers, Moses Fleming, Joe Fleming, and Vincent Fleming; and sisters, Alma Lee Fleming, Wilma Mae Stuckey, Letha Fleming, Lealer Anderson, Betty Fleming, and Ella Mae Fleming.
She is survived by her children: Starlean Belin (Harry "Bubba" Brown), Sam Jeffro Belin (Tina), Johnny Henry Belin, Rena Lewis (Rev. Melvin Lewis), and Jacob Darnell Belin; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory two individuals with whom she maintained special bonds: her sister-in-law, Alizer Jane Belin of New Jersey, and her cousin, Theodora Woodberry of Florida. Additionally, Mrs. Belin is fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends whose lives she richly influenced.
