Harold Franks, son of Samson King and Delorie Franks, was born on November 3, 1969, in Florence, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Early Life and Education
Harold was educated in the Florence District One Schools, where he built the foundation for his lifelong love of family and community.
Amp's Personality and Passions
Affectionately known as "Amp Franks" by family and friends, He will be dearly missed in the years to come. Amp was known for his magnetic personality; he never met a stranger and always greeted others with a smile that could light up any room, famously showcasing a gold tooth that brought joy to every situation. To know Amp was truly to love him. Amp cherished spending time with his family and friends. Outside of his beloved mancave, he found joy in cooking nearly every day of the week. His ribs became legendary among all who tasted them.
Loved Ones That Preceded Him in Death
Harold was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mrs. Emma Gass and Mr. Buddy King; his maternal grandparents, Clara Bell Rogers and Samuel Rogers; his sister, Valorie Rogers; brothers Tony King, Samson Muldrow, and Patrick Pipkins; his niece, Devondra Franks; and his best friend and brother, David Law.
Surviving Family and Loved Ones
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Brockington Franks, and seven children Kaneesha Peterson, Precious Davis, Shaquan Davis, Courtney Brunson, Aaron Brockington-Franks, Jordan Brockington-Franks, and Kearston Brockington-Franks; nine grandchildren Mahkai Eaddy, Kylie Peterson, Paris James, Londyn James, Fredrick Sowells, Logan Davis, Bella Davis, Brooklyn Davis, and Christian Davis; his parents, Samson King and Delorie Franks; sisters Tenel (Nathaniel) Ford and Stephany Dargan; brothers Angelo Johnson and Jhavon Jones; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.

Harold was cared for and supported by many special people, including his mother-in-law, Teresa Benjamin; Earl Eutsey, who spent several nights with him; nurse Ashley Brockington, who provided hands-on care; Chasity Benjamin, who offered her home in Charleston; Angela Jackson, Fran and Bonnie, Pam and Tim, who spent countless hours at the hospital; niece Sierra Rogers, who visited every single day; The Addidas Possey; and the entire MUSC nursing team.
