Ida Mae
Powell
April 6, 1936 – January 27, 2025
Ida Mae Powell, was born on April 6, 1936 to Beatrice Powell and Lamb Smith in Greenville, Alabama. She entered into eternal rest on January 28, 2025.
Ida was loving and caring with a gentle heartwarming personality. Owning her own daycare and being the pastor and preacher of the church in Raleigh, North Carolina was some of the best things that ever happen to Ida. She achieved her goals and dreams and made sure her children knew that setting goals and boundaries for yourself was an important part of life. One thing about Ida Mae, she loved the Lord and she made sure everyone around her knew that. She made sure her children knew that for sure and that they all had a relationship with God. Ida helped raise some of the children from her daycare and became another grandmother in those children's lives. So the daycare became a 24 hour daycare for some of them. She was a wonderful teacher. She made sure you learned something new every single day. Ida was very professional and taught her children that presentation was the key. Ida said make sure you always stay presentable because you never know what opportunities you may walk into when you leave the house and if you stay ready you don't have to get ready. So Ida made sure we was dressed down from head to toe and told us staying neat and clean was in our genes and runs through the family. Ida loved her family, that's all she ever talked about, for the ones she haven't seen in a while. She talked about how she wanted to see them and sometimes she will just hold the phone thinking about her loved ones.
Ida was preceded in death by mother, daughters Lorine Powell and Tecolia Hough, son Lewis Powell, sister Leola Love and grandmother Elizabeth Powell.
She leaves behind cherished memories and a beautiful family children Lanny (Calvin) McCullum, Lorine Powell, Tecolia Hough, Nathaniel Hough, Eddie (Majorie) Powell, Lewis Powell; grandchildren Sharday McCullum, Calif McCullum, Alphonso Lewis, Lawrence Powell, Kenneth Boyce, Beatrice Powell, Katrina Powell, Eddie Powell, Jr., Mathew Powell, Jerome Powell; thirty great-grandchildren; a host of other extended family and friends.
We thank god for blessing this family with Ida Mae Powell, you'll forever be in our hearts we love you.
