Obituary

James C. Timmons, affectionately known as "Cat," departed this life after a long illness on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1953, to the late Cliffie and Earline Timmons. James was one of seven   children and was raised alongside five sisters and one brother. He was a proud graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School, Class of 1973.

As a child, James attended Mount Rona Baptist Church, where his faith was nurtured early in life. In 2017, he united with Wayside Chapel Baptist Church, where he remained a devoted and faithful member. He genuinely loved his church family, and their continuous prayers and support during his illness meant a great deal to him and his family.

James shared twenty blessed years of marriage with his loving wife, Cathy Timmons, whom he cherished deeply. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy and peace in being outside. James dedicated more than forty years of faithful service to Florence County Facilities Maintenance and retired in 2019 as the Building Superintendent. He was widely respected as a firm but fair supervisor, known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and willingness to go the extra mile for anyone in need. In addition to his career, James was a successful entrepreneur and the owner of C & P Yard Care, LLC.

Known to many as the life of the party, James had a natural gift for making others laugh and bringing people together. His joy, warmth, hard work, and love for life touched countless hearts and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Cliffie and Earline Timmons; his brother, Major Timmons; sister-in-law, Minnie Lee Timmons; his sisters, Marlene Timmons, Delores McCown, and Dorthy Hyman; nephew Terrance Timmons and his sons, Jermaine Timmons and Maurice Pickens.

To cherish his precious memory, James leaves behind his devoted wife, Cathy Timmons; his beloved children Alandria Chandler, Warren (Vanity) Timmons, Latrease Leaks,  Markis (Pandora) Timmons, Selena Pickens, and Brian (Kimberly) Pickens; nineteen treasured grandchildren, Rykirah Chandler, Khashia Chandler, Jarvis Chandler, Jocelynn Timmons, Journee Timmons, Kinsley Leak, Jordan Timmons, Reylin Timmons, Marchyra  Graham, Kameron Timmons, Dontrell Pickens, Donnell Robinson, Davon Mays, Imaje Pickens, Dreama Pickens, Brian Pickens Jr., Chynna Pickens, Noah Mazard, Joshua Pickens, and Nyree Pickens; six great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; his sisters, Dena Wineglass and Mary Dargan; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
