John Timothy Paul Jr., 55, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on April 9, 2025.

Born on December 20, 1969, John was known for his love of music, and his unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Throughout his life, he held  several jobs and was always willing to lend a hand when he could. Even as his health declined, his love for music remained strong—his impressive collection of over 1000 CDs is a testament to his passion.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Sr., his mother Delores Paul, and two brothers Antonio Cannon and John Calvin McWhite.

He leaves behind one son Kalvin Garland; seven grandchildren ZyOnah Garland, Jayden Garland, Brayleigh Garland, Kamiyah Garland, Adonis Garland, Artist Handfield, and Kai'Lhani Garland; two sisters Timolin Paul and Tonja (Timothay) Daniels of Florence, SC; brother Leroy (Renea) Cannon of Lusby, Maryland; he is lovingly remembered by his six aunts Carolyn Cannon of Capital Heights, MD, Brenda Vaughn and Juanita Sullivan, both Upper Marlboro, MD, Betty Jean Paul of Florence, SC  and Alma Gregg of Brooklyn NY; a special uncle Henry (Vivian) Paul of Florence, SC; and five other uncles Frankie Blake, Winfred Blake, Kenny Blake, Donnell (Pam) Blake, and Connell Blake all of Washington, DC; two nieces Valarie and LaQuetta; three nephews Michael, Nathan, and  Leroy "CJ,"—each of whom he held close to his heart; a childhood friend Tonia Martino Governor; among those who will miss him most deeply are his sister Timolin Paul, who cared for him with unwavering love and strength, acting as a second mother throughout his life, and his niece LaQuetta, who shared a close bond with him as she cared and cherished the time they had together. Their love for John was immense, and their memories of him will forever remain in their hearts.
