Jonathan
Timmons
June 17, 1972 – January 24, 2022
Jonathan LeBruce Timmons, affectionately known as JT or Coach, was born June 17, 1972 in Florence County to Betty Fleming and the late Robert Brooks. He departed this earthly life on Monday, January 24, 2022.
Jonathan was raised in Pamplico, SC and grew up surrounded by love from his family, friends, community, and church families. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age, and was a member of Pee Dee Baptist Church where he sang with the Walker Male Chorus. Jonathan spent much of his childhood in the church with his parents, the late Rev. Earl Timmons and Helen G. Timmons. Many Sunday mornings and afternoons were spent traveling between Greenhill Baptist Church (Hartsville, SC) and Pinewood Baptist Church (Pinewood, SC) where his father served as pastor for many years.
He received his education from Florence County School District 2 schools where he later served as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Hannah Pamplico Elementary-Middle School until his death. In addition to his classroom duties, he served as Head Coach for the Junior Varsity boys basketball team, and Assistant Coach for the boys' Varsity basketball team. Jonathan displayed his Hannah Pamplico pride like no other, and was a dedicated member of the staff. As a mentor, he worked with and coached many children during his tenure, on and off the court. Working with the youth was near and dear to his heart, and he showed up in and outside of school to make an impact.
During his own high school years, Jonathan excelled in several sports, to include basketball, baseball, football, and track. Jonathan's love of sports extended past his high school years. He played travel baseball and softball on the weekends for many years with the St Luke Astros, Willow Creek Reds, and St Luke Blue Machine. In addition, Jonathan served as referee for recreational league games for basketball, baseball, and football.
Even amongst all of his extracurricular activities and community involvement, Jonathan still found time to minister to people through music. Singing was truly his passion, and he used it as a vessel to spread God's word. He spent many years traveling, singing, and recording with Roger Epps and The Mighty Disciples. His melodic voice and caring personality will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends, students, mentees, coworkers, and community members.
He leaves to cherish these fond memories: his mothers Helen G. Timmons of Pamplico, SC and Betty A. Fleming of Fountain Inn, SC; brothers Robbie Timmons and Rufus (Jane) Fleming of Pamplico, SC, Rufus L. Fleming of Florence, SC and Gernard (Katrina) Eaddy of Bridgeport, CT; sisters Wendy Fleming of Fountain Inn, SC, Atoya (Rodney) Singletary of Florence, SC, Angela Fleming, Selina Eaddy, and Sabrina Eaddy of Pamplico, SC; aunts and uncles Rachel McWhite, Brenda Graham, John Wesley Beach, Rena M.
