Joseph Clyde Gainey Jr, (JC) was born on July 19, 1950, in Florence County to the late Joseph and Evelyn (Hall) Gainey. He was the second of four children. He entered into eternal rest on March 18, 2025.
JC was baptized at an early age at the Olive Grove Baptist Church in Coward, SC. Later when the family moved to Pamplico, SC, he joined the Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev JL Brooks where he served on the Usher Board.
JC was a 1968 graduate of Gibbs High School in Pamplico, SC. He was employed by Delta Mills for thirty-five years as a Swatchman. In 2008, JC received his certification from Florence-Darlington Technical College as an A-1 Welder. He was employed by Angus Palm for two years as a shield metal arc welder.
His hobbies included fishing, welding, carpentry, rebuilding old boats and spending time with his granddaughters. His Favorite Scripture: 23rd Psalm, His motto: I love God, and I know God loves me.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Lucy Marie Floyd and Laura Gainey.
He leaves cherished memories to his wife, Mary, of 52 years and their two sons, Tyrone (Makonya) and Jason both of Columbia SC; five granddaughters Jayla, Tyseana, Erin, Amari and Aariona; one brother Robert (Wilhelmenia) Gainey of Pamplico, SC; three sisters-in-law Ree Nettles of Florence, SC, Robin Miles of Darlington, SC and Joyce Woods of Pamplico, SC; two brothers-in-law Melvin Woods of Florence, SC and Jimmy Floyd of Conway, SC; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
