Joseph N.
Orgbon
October 5, 1951 – February 11, 2026
Joseph Nathaniel Orgbon was born on October 5, 1951, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Willie T. Orgbon and Rosie L. Orgbon-Knight. Surrounded by his family, he passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.
Joey graduated from Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina. His career began at Merita Bakery in Florence. He later became a bus driver for the City of Florence and worked as a supervisor and cook at McLeod Regional Hospital, also in Florence. Joe had a passion for cooking and always brought a smile—and just the right amount of seasoning—to everything he made. For 13 years, he served as a caddy at the Country Club of South Carolina, greeting everyone with kindness and enthusiasm for both the sport and its people. He was admired for his dedication and integrity throughout his professional life.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Liston "LT" Orgbon of Elizabethtown, North Carolina, and Charles Orgbon of Florence, South Carolina, Joe leaves behind many who loved him deeply.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Orgbon, who stood by him every step of the way; daughter Tomika (Kedric) Solomon; son Nathan Omar Orgbon, both of Florence, South Carolina; and granddaughter Dallas Latimore of St. Louis, Missouri; his sister Janet (Rev. Nolan) Sellers of Florence, South Carolina; his aunt, Mozella Myers of Florence, South Carolina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
