Larry James
George Jr.
October 8, 1937 – January 22, 2026
Larry James George, Jr, son of the late Albert George and Virginia Bellfield, was born October 8, 1937, in Sampson County, North Carolina. He entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He passed away peacefully at his home. Larry will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
After graduating from high school, Larry joined the United States Army. He served his country with great pride and was proud to be a United States Veteran.
Larry, who was also fondly called James, attended Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Sampson County. At an early age, Larry devoted his life to Christ. He was a faithful member at Pilgrim until he relocated to South Carolina. In 1998, Larry moved to Florence, South Carolina. He became a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Usher Board and was past President of the Pee Dee Missionary Baptist Association.
Larry was employed by the Hartsville Outdoor Equipment Company, where he was a skilled mechanic. Larry enjoyed working on outdoor equipment. He often used his skills to help his family, friends and neighbors.
On February 13, 1998, Larry was united in Holy Matrimony to Harnetha Nichols Outlaw. Larry was a dedicated husband for twenty-seven years. He was also a loving father to Yolanda George, Veronica Ashley, Gerald Outlaw and his late son, Curtis George.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert George and Virginia Bellfield; siblings, Ronnie Watkins, Geraldine Grant and son, Curtis George.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Harnetha George; children, Yolanda George, Veronica Ashley and Gerald Outlaw; four grandchildren Kitoko George, Na'Ziya Allen, RaLinda Ashley, and Nia Bostick; a great-grandson, Cameron Carter, Jr.; three brothers, Hardy Watkins (Patricia), David Watkins (Sylvia), Michael Watkins; and three sisters, Pattie Ward, Annette James, Angie Bellfield; Larry was blessed to have a best friend, Aaron Davis, whose enduring friendship and unwavering support enriched his life. Aaron was considered family and brought great joy to Larry's life; a host of other relatives and friends.
