Marvin Earl
Douglas
April 1, 1956 – November 16, 2024
Marvin E. Douglas was born on April 1, 1956 to Mack and Janie Douglas in Florence, SC. He departed this earthly life on November 16, 2024.
Marvin was educated in Florence District One Schools and continued his education at Florence-Darlington Technical College graduating as a machinist. After a long career at International Paper in Eastover, SC, he retired.
As a young person Marvin developed a love for all things music. He learned to play the trumpet in Junior High School. He loved to sing and dance and was very good at both. When Marvin got his first car as a teenager, he became interested in learning how to repair cars and he kept most of the family cars on the road. He enjoyed swimming, watching sports and baking cakes and other treats for his family and friends.
Marvin had a passion for reading the Bible. His love for reading the Bible continued up until his death. If you called him when he was reading his bible he would say "I can't talk to you now I have to finish my chapters." And you would have to talk to him later.
Marvin grew up to be the kind of man who kept his word. When he told you that he was going to do something, you could count on it. We loved that about Marvin. He was dependable. Marvin was also the kind of man who would do whatever he could to help his family and he didn't want to take any pay for it. Marvin was a quiet, easygoing, selfless and humble man who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Mack and Janie Douglas, sisters Anitra M. Douglas and Gloria D. Sims.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children Whitney N. Douglas of Charlotte, NC and Daniel Douglas of Greensboro, NC; brothers Kevin (Cynthia) Douglas and Mack (Lillian) Douglas, III both of Florence, SC; granddaughters Raegan Douglas and Kennedy Douglas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
