Obituary

Michael Carr Rush, the seventh of eight children born to the late Maggie Bell Rose Rush and Charles Coker was born on May 12, 1956 in Florence County, SC.


In his youth, Michael accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Turbeville, SC.


Michael was a 1975 graduate of Mayewood High School in Sumter, SC, and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served four years. Upon being discharged he was employed as a conductor with CSX for over twenty years and enlisted in the National Guard where he served for eight years. In 2017 he enrolled in Florence-Darlington Technical College, where he obtained a certificate in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC).


Michael was joined in holy matrimony to Delores Barbara Sowers Rush and to that union two sons was born.


He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara R. Wheeler, brother A. S. Rush, Sr. and nephew Robert A. Rush.


On Sunday, October 12, 2025, God spoke softly and whispered to, "Michael come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest" at his residence in Timmonsville, SC. Those who   remain to mourn his  passing and cherish his loving memories, two loving sons Antron Ruse and Theo (Courtney) Rush, both of Florence, SC; five grandchildren Kaitly Rush, Kamoron Rush, Tristan Rush and Kingston Rush all of Florence, SC, and Krew Rush of Hartsville, SC; three sisters Cynthia Fullard of Lynchburg, SC, Gloria Capers of Florence, SC and Patricia (Lavern) English of Santee, SC; three brothers Allard Rush of Pottstown, PA, Roland (Pamela) Rush of Orlando, FL, and Samuel (Jackie) Rush of Stone Mountain, GA; a loving aunt Mary Walker of Sumter, SC; sister-in-law Yan Rush of LaHabra, CA, five nieces, twelve nephews, loving companion Judy Hickson of Timmonsville, SC; ex wife Delores Rush of Florence, SC; a host of grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
