Octavia Bethea was born on November 3, 1975 to the Late Albert Bethea and  Maxine Bethea in Florence County. She peacefully transition from this earthly life on February 9, 2023.

Affectionally know as "Tavis", she was a beautiful soul, a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She made you laugh, she lit up the room, she was the life of the party.

"Tavis" attended the public schools of Florence County and a graduate of Wilson High School class of 1994. She received a degree from Florence Darlington Technical College in cosmetology in 2012. She was employed with Vital Check as a Customer Service Representative until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her father Albert Bethea; her maternal grandmother Isabella Brown, her paternal grandfather Samuel "SJ" Bethea, aunts Lucille Bethea Jackson and Debra Bethea, uncles Samuel J Bethea Jr and Robert Bethea and a close friend Sharon Stephens.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the life of her children Oshatae Bethea, Jaquary Bethea, Khadija Smyer, Auris Singletary III, Lequalen Singletary, Jalen Singletary and Jamerion Singletary; ten grandchildren Craig Matthews, Cam Matthews, Carther Matthews, Nehemiah Bethea, Ashton Bethea, Ahsir Bethea, Nylah Singletary, Legaci Singletary, Kartier Singletary and Kazleigh Daniels; her mother Maxine Bethea; brother Mark Reid; sisters Michelle (Douglas) Bethea Blakney, Pamela (Casey) Samuel, A. Bethea, Patrice (Brian) Gainey; grandmother Katie Wright Bethea; uncles Charles (Donna) Bethea; Frank (Tonya) Bethea, Bert (Janie) Bethea, Donald (Mary) Bethea, Bobby Bethea, Ulysess (PC) Brown, Ronnie L. Bethea; aunt Cathy Bethea; a host of nieces, nephews, family and special friends.
