Roberta Daniels Drayton daughter of Nathaniel and Emma Daniels was born on March 19, 1954 in Florence County, South Carolina. On June 23, 2024 she departed this life at MUSC Hospital in Florence, SC surrounded by her love ones.
Roberta affectionally known as the Lady of D-town was the matriarch of her family. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a child and loved the Lord. She was a member of Mt. Zion Chapel Baptist Church.
Roberta received her formal education in Florence School District One at Gibbs High School located in Pamplico, South Carolina.
After high school Roberta was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Roy Deon Drayton in March 1973. She traveled with him as he was enlisted in the United States Air Force. To this union one child LeRon Drayton was born.
Roberta returned home and entered into the work field working for Commander Nursing Home. Later she transferred to Mcleod Regional Medical Center Hospital where she retired after thirty plus years. After retiring she continued working doing what she loved which was taking care of loved ones until her health failed.
Roberta was a strong, hard working and proud woman. She loved to cook, dance, travel to visit family and host family gatherings. Roberta was impeccably well dressed and the life of the party. She loved her perfume, clothes, shoes and makeup. She never met a stranger. After losing her oldest son she would host community events in the commencement of her son by naming it "DRE Day." Bringing everyone together from far and near.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, four sisters, Queenie Daniels-Smith, Mildred Daniels-Williams, Annie Daniels Grixby and Betty Randolph, four brothers, Henry Lee Daniels, Johnny Daniels, Nathaniel Daniels Jr. and Benjamin Daniels.
Roberta leaves to cherish her memory her son Darius (Autumn) Drayton of Florence, SC; three granddaughters Ariyana, Aniyah and Kalaya Drayton all of Florence, SC; one sister Linda (Mark) Adams of Columbia, SC; three guardian grands Randyn, Ashlyn, Gracelyn Flowers all of Florence, SC; one great-grand Javari Drayton; three guardian great-grands Kingston, Torrance, Malakai; one guardian sister and caregiver of the home Shelly McKay; one guardian brother Bobby Smith of Pamplico, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
