Obituary

Roena "Martha" Jackson was born on February 16, 1942 to Levi and Charlotte Askins Gregg. On December 9, 2023, Martha, which she was affectionately called, work on Earth was done and her time had come for her to take her heavenly rest.


Martha attended the Public Schools of Florence County. She dedicated twenty five years from 1970-1995 to Clark's Nursing Home, currently know as Carlyle Senior Care as the head cook and kitchen supervisor until retirement. Even after retirement, Martha still continued to utilize her amazing culinary skill and serve her community


Martha dedicated her life to our Lord and Savior and became a member at Central Baptist Missionary Church, formally under the leadership of Reverend Eugene Thomas but currently under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Waymond Mumford. She served in several capacities in the church as a Deaconess and apart of the Kitchen Committee


Martha was married for fifty-six years to her loving husband, the late Deacon Franklin "Bobby" Jackson, this union was blessed with five children, Patricia Kelly, Franklin Lee "Red" Jackson, Betty Jackson Pringle, Daniel Glenn Jackson and Leatha Ann Jackson.


Martha was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Leatha "Lisa" Jackson; son Franklin "Red" Jackson; two sisters, Lottie Bell Gregg and Patricia Gregg; and brother, Willie Gregg.


Left to cherish her many memories are: two children, Patricia (Ricky) Kelly of Charlotte, NC, Betty Jackson Pringle of Florence, SC; fourteen grandchildren, Sharonica, Victor, Taddanekka, Yolanda, Mario, Franklin, Ricky Jr., Victoria, Carlos, Devonda, Bela'vna, Demetrius, Andrea and Kenon; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evangelist Luepen Wallace of Baltimore, MD and Carrie Gregg Hart of Darlington, SC; two sisters-in-law Betty Williams of   Darlington, SC and Annie Sue Jackson of High Point; uncle, Tommy Askin of Boynton Beach, FL.; a special son-in-law Willie Pringle of Florence, SC; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.


Roena "Martha" Jackson had many roles in life, but being a grandmother was most rewarding for her; she love her grandchildren.
