Obituary

Early Monday morning, on March 4, 2024, God called our precious Shirley Myers Barr to her  heavenly home to rest from her labor.

Shirley was born in Florence County, South Carolina on October 17, 1944 to the late Oliver and Thelma Lee Davis Myers, and was the eldest of five children.

She was educated in the Florence County Schools and graduated from Wilson High School class of 1963. She held many different occupations over her lifetime but she was well know for being a  cosmetologist and having her own salon for many years. After retiring from cosmetology, she started doing janitorial work for various companies and was a janitorial supervisor at the Florence County Complex.

At an early age, Shirley was converted, baptized and joined Spring Branch Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined. She served on the Missionary Board and   Usher Board for many years. Shirley had a love for her family, her church, the Order of Eastern Star Light of Pamplico #80, Heriones of Jerico L.E. Hyman #2 and fishing. Always there for anyone who needed her.

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favour of the LORD." Proverbs 18:22

Shirley met and married the love of her life, William Barr. Anyone who knew her knew without a shadow of any doubt that she loved and cherish her husband and he equally loved and cherish her.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Thelma L. Myers, daughter Sonya G. Daniels and sister Mary A. Myers.

Left to cherish her loving memories are her husband, William Barr; children James R. Ford, Reverend Edward (Felicia) Singletary, Crystal Y.
