The meaning of John: GOD is Gracious

Mr. J.G. McWhite life journey began on May 1, 1939, the youngest son of nine children born to Mr. Ola and Mrs. Janie McWhite.

After graduating from Gibbs High School on May 29, 1958, he began his employment at Wellman Industries of Johnsonville, SC. In 2003, Mr. McWhite retired after working for forty-five years.

On March 13, 1966, Mr. McWhite was joined in Holy Matrimony to Doris Davis, and to this union, their pride and joy, two children  Darryl and Holley were joined.

Mr. McWhite cultivated crops on the McWhite Farm his entire life with his late brother, Vernon McWhite. Mr. McWhite hobbies included helping others, farming, fishing, hunting, watching all sports, but was passionate about NASCAR and most importantly, spending time with his family.

Although his health began to decline June 2023, Mr. McWhite remained a pillar of the community. Mr. McWhite yearly tradition on New Years Day was to enter individuals' homes in the           community as a sign of "Good Luck and Blessings" by being the first male to cross the threshold of the home. Mr. McWhite provided a stable background and steady influence throughout his years for his family and within the community.

Mr. McWhite was predeceased by his parents; all of his siblings five sisters Sarah, Berdie, Charles Mae, Loretta and Nancy; three brothers Calivester, Winston, and Vernon; a special nephew Stephen "Steve" McWhite and a best friend James "Rat" Eaddy.

Mr. McWhite was an incredible person, full of life and love for his family. He has left behind a legacy of kindness that will not be forgotten.

He leaves to cherish his memory many loved ones, his loyal and faithful wife of fifty-eight years, Doris McWhite, one son, Darryl (Demetria) McWhite; a daughter Holley (Levan) Nesmith all of Johnsonville, SC; six loving grandchildren LeVantay raised as his own, L'Asia, LeVon, Day'sun, LeVan and Day'ana all of Johnsonville, SC; six sisters-in-law Hannah (Ben) Stuckey of Florence, SC, Dorothy Parker of Pamplico, SC, Levon Singletary, Lacey Davis both of Johnsonville, SC and Loucraday  Davis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law Thomas (Janie Bell) Davis of Columbia, SC; special nephews and nieces Al "Bubba" Moore, Stanley (Cindy) McWhite, Castillo "Johnny" Davis, Bilal Davis and Joretta (Timothy) Simmons; faithful friends Bishop Fred Graham, Eddie Rivera, Deacon Robert Singleton, Deacon Hillie (Sheila) Weaver, Roscoe Pickett and Bro. On September 9, 2024, the Lord called Mr. McWhite home to eternal rest. Let us be comforted to know that his soul is at peace, he has favor and acceptance with God because of his life labor. Let his good works and deeds live on through the lives he touched throughout his earthly existence. May the work he done speak for him.
