Obituary

Mother Alean Hester Faust-Charles was born on October 20, 1940 in Bladenboro, North Carolina to the late Miller and Biner   Rebecca Purdie Hester. She departed this earthly life on June 23, 2023.

Mother Faust-Charles attended and graduated from Spaulding Monroe School in Bladenboro, North Carolina. She then relocated to Manhattan, New York where she furthered her education and became a dietician assistant. There she also met the love of her life, Charles Lonnie Faust. They were joined in marriage and their union was blessed with three children. Later in life, after being widowed for twenty plus years, she married David Charles, Sr.

She was the proud owner and operator of Faust Building Block Daycare for fifteen plus years. She was a true disciplinarian and was committed to the education and loving care of numerous children over the years.

She was a faithful member of Monumental Missionary Baptist Church where she served as advisor of the Junior Missionary. She was a member of many auxiliaries including, the Senior Missionary, Pastor’s Aide and the Young Adult choir. She was also a former Mother of the Year.

In addition to her parents and spouses, Mother Faust-Charles was preceded in death by her siblings Fredrick (Freddie) Hester, Emma Joy Williams Edwards, Priscilla Sloan, Ressie Lee Jetter, Miller Jr. Hester, Sterline Johnson, Betty Riggins-Hinton and Sanka Hester.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three children, Darlean N. Faust (Stanley) Sellers and Shonga Q. Faust (Gerald) McKenzie, all of Florence, SC and Antonious T. (Krista) Faust of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Ressie Faust (DeWarren) Register of Columbia, SC, Charles Nicholas Faust of Atlanta, GA, and Whitney K. Sellers of Florence, SC; three great grandchildren, Neila Jhene Faust, Jayce Andrew Register, and Leila Nadine Register; a special niece and  nephew, Kathy Sloan and Durand K. Williams; beloved cousins, Gloria Sessoms and Ulysses Purdie;    special daughters, Minister Nellie Wosu, Renee N. Thompson and Brenda James; a special son, Moses Dow; longtime special friends, Sherri Allen and Dorothy M. (Roy) Hart; a host of other treasured nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
