Birtia Mae Cato, born on October 2, 1946 to Victoria and Cleveland Jenkins departed this life on March 11, 2024 in a local hospital after a short illness.
She was educated at Gibbs High School in Pamplico, SC.
She moved to Florence, SC where she was joined in holy matrimony to Wayne Cato. This union was blessed with four children Marvin, Mark, Phanta and Shawn.
Birtia was a very talented person, she was well known for her mouth watering biscuits. She was a member of an elite fashion club where she modeled, and a member of the National Counsel of Negro Women. She was employed with Florence Stem Laundry and Marlow Manufacture.
She was humorous, loved to have fun, had a big heart and always willing to help anyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Cato, daughter Phanta Cato, three siblings Rickey Jenkins, Lizzie Mae Gordan and Quincy Jenkins.
Birtia leaves to cherish her precious memories her children Marvin Cato, Mark Cato and Shawn Cato all of Florence, SC; grandchildren Javory Oneal, Safonya Cato, Ryan Cato, Markia Cato, Ray Ray Cato; eight great grands; four siblings Minister Gail Bailey of Darlington, SC, Cleveland Jenkins, Jr. of Lake City, SC, Patsy Stuckey of Hartsville, SC and Jessie McHenry of Pamplico, SC; aunt Johnnie Mae Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
