Carolyn Myers Obituary
Carolyn was the youngest child born to the late Jeff Myers Sr. and Minnie Wheeler Myers on April 23, 1938, in Pamplico, South Carolina. She transitioned from all her labor in this life on Monday, January 20, 2025 at MUSC.
She attended Mill Branch AME Church regularly until young adulthood and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.
Carolyn attended Gibbs High School in Pamplico, South Carolina. After graduating high school she moved to Brooklyn, New York. During her time living in New York, Carolyn worked hard and furthered her education in Nutrition and became the Head Dietitian at Creedmoor State Hospital. She remained in Brooklyn for over sixty years before returning home to live in Pamplico.
Carolyn was known for her generous spirit by loved ones and strangers that later became friends or family. She was a pillar of strength, love and support. She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, Bible study, having barbeques, taking road trips, and cooking. She was a blessing to those she encountered. Often opening her home or feeding those in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings Abbie Myers, Anna Myers, Hestine Brown, Queen Ester Barr, Edith Mae Williams, James Kennedy, Sr., Harristine Cockfield, Elizabeth Graham, Jeff Myers Jr., and Minnie Thomas.
Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter Abbie Gail Myers King of Pamplico, SC, and bonus daughter Nmeka Speller of Brooklyn, NY. She was a proud grandmother to Yvonne King of Brooklyn, NY, Chivonne (Carlos)Myers of Florence, SC, Carol (Yoheved) King of Brooklyn, NY, Marcus (Quadriiyah) Edwards of Atlanta, GA, and bonus granddaughter Amirah Wynn of Brooklyn, NY. She was a doting great grandmother to Xavior, Dhimani, Arianna, Asha, Emery and great-great grandmother to Tai’jere. She will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that love her dearly. With a whole heart and open arms Carolyn spread her love and expanded her family also leaving behind her adopted son Samuel “Mike” Reid of Bronx, NY, adopted granddaughter Iris Garcia of Brooklyn, NY, and adopted grandson Bernard “Trini” Superville of Pamplico, SC.
