Clice J. Pondexter Obituary

Clice Joe Pondexter, son of the late Joseph and Essie Pondexter, was born December 7, 1935 in Tallahassee, Florida. He went to be with the Lord March 6, 2025.


At an early age, he became a member of Bethel AME Church in Tallahassee, FL.


He was educated in the public schools of Tallahassee, FL, where he played in the high school band and the football team. After graduation from high school, Clice moved to New York City. He continued his education at Bergen Community College. Clice was employed as a special officer for the city of New York for twenty-nine years.


Clice was united in holy matrimony to Helen Swinton on November 25, 1972. They were married for fifty-two years. 


Clice enjoyed all types of sports genre; however, his favorite teams were the New York Giants and the New York Knicks. 


Clice desire to worship led him to become a member of Convent Ave Baptist Church of NYC; upon relocating to Florence, SC, Clice became a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, where  Reverend. Dr. Norman Gamble is the pastor.


Clice was pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters, Minnie Lee Harp, Mabel Williams & Virginia Bell and their nephew, Vernon Hunter, whom they reared as their son.


Clice leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife Helen; daughter Genna; sons Wesley and Timothy; sister Jacklyn of California; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Clice will certainly be missed by those who loved him.
