Mr. David Fitzgerald Garland was born in New York City on June 7, 1961, to Mr. Seniend Garland Sr. and Mrs. Lillian Garland. He passed away on May 21, 2024, at MUSC Orangeburg Hospital. 

David graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1979 and received his welding diploma from Florence-Darlington Technical College in May 1984. He worked for the New York City Housing  Authority for six years before transitioning to the trucking profession, which he was most passionate about. He loved the open road and the  freedom of long-distance driving, dedicating  himself to his work until his health no longer permitted it. Even then, his love for the road never decreased. 

Beyond his career, David enjoyed life's simple pleasures. During his younger years in New York City, he loved playing basketball, spending time with friends on the court, and blasting music in his room, especially the oldies but goodies. He had a particular fondness for grilling for family and friends, with ribs, chicken, and Roger Wood sausages being his favorites. He also enjoyed plain Lays potato chips with a touch of  hot sauce. Above all, he cherished being a father and a grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his only, beloved daughter, LaCrystal Ham-Myers and son-in-law, Michael  Myers Jr., of Florence, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Nevaeh Ham and Malachi Vargas of  Darlington, South Carolina; godson Kyheem Moore of Florence, SC; three sisters Francis Weldon of Florence, SC, Brenda Blackwell and Sharon Garland of New York City, NY; one brother Seniend Garland Jr. (Tasha Lackey) of Atlanta, GA; girlfriend Crystal Kirkland of Florence, South Carolina; daughter's mother, Christine Ham of Darlington, South Carolina; He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
