Dawn Vanita McCall

On Monday, August 28, 2023 God picked His most beautiful flower for his garden, Dawn Vanita, most affectionately called "Boonchie" departed her earthly home. 

Greatness entered into the earth's realm on January 11, 1969, the day Dawn was born. God granted the precious task of nurturing His flower to the late Leroy "Casey" Jones and Queen Esther McCall. 

She attended the public schools of Florence District One. Graduating from Thee Dear Ole' Wilson High, class of 1987, where she was of member of the Flag Squad.

At an early age she was baptized and sung joyful praises unto the Lord with the Sunbeam Choir under the direction of Minister Evelyn Davis.  

She was employed with McLeod Regional Medical Center & the Carolinian Retirement Home for many years until a decline in health.

Dawn was the epitome of a daughter, mother, sister aunt, friend and any other role she held. Her heart was of pure gold and her family was every fiber of her being.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy "Casey" Jones; maternal grandmother Frances McCall; brother-in-law Michael Small; twin nephews, Casey Robert & Michael Small.

She leaves her precious memories to be cherished by her two sons; Antonio Donquez McCall of Bear DE and Gary Marcel Walker III of the home, her beautiful, gracious mother Queen Esther McCall; three sisters Carrie (Michael) Small, Victoria "Vickie" Grant, Carolyn (Steve) Thomas, all of Florence SC; three brothers William "Freeze" Thomas, Ronnie Jones both of Florence, SC and Calvin (Davonne) Jones of Baltimore, MD; three nieces; eight nephews; one special niece LaToya (Aubrey) Small; two special nephews Kwame Jamel Small and Antonio LeTwan Perry, whom she loved dearly and reared as her own; a host of other great-nieces and great-nephews, friends and family.
