District Elder Glenn Oliver Lane Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8

District Elder Glenn Oliver Lane was born on June 24, 1952 in Dillon County, South Carolina to Oliver and Lessie McCoy Lane. District Elder Glenn Lane passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025 with his loving family by his side.

He attended the public schools of New Britain, Connecticut, and later graduated from Latta High School in 1971.  He attended Florence Darlington Technical College and graduated in 1974 with a Drafting Engineering degree.

He worked as a Product Engineering Manager at various manufacturing  companies in Marion, South Carolina. He was employed at Rockwell International, ArvinMeritor, and Precision Southeast until retirement in 2009. The engineering jobs allowed him to travel internationally. After retirement, he became a full-time caregiver for his parents and devoted his time to the ministry and pastoring New Bethel Apostolic Church in Dillon, SC.

District Elder Glenn Lane was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen Hayes Lane, on July 2, 1976. To this union, two children were born.  He loved his wife and daughters very much and would do anything for them at any time.

He was baptized in Jesus name and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in April 1977 under the pastorate of his father, Elder Oliver Lane, at New Bethel Apostolic Church in Dillon, SC. Years later, he became a devoted adult class Sunday School teacher. Driven by his deep love for God and His Word, he dedicated many early mornings to prayer and studying the Scriptures. He not only taught the scriptures with wisdom and clarity, but he also lived them out with humility and grace. The Lord called him to the ministry in 2000. In 2010, he was installed as pastor of New Bethel Apostolic Church in Dillon, SC. He was elevated as District Elder in 2014 by the South Carolina Community of Churches (SCCC) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. District Elder Lane served on the Advisory Board and Auditing Committee in the SCCC. He has touched the lives of many people over the years. He was an encourager and always pushed others to excel at whatever they were called to do. Glenn was a well-known basketball player in his town, a gardener, and a golfer. He loved to cook, grill, fish, bake cakes, and prepare many meals for the family.

District Elder Glenn Lane was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Lessie Lane, his brother, Roger Lane, and sister-in-law, Patricia Allen Lane.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of forty-eight years, Mrs. Karen Hayes Lane of Florence, SC; two children Alicia (Tyrone) Hutchinson of Florence, SC, and Erica (Tripp) Gordon of Florence, SC; grandchildren Taylor Gordon, Zachary Hutchinson, and Tyson Gordon; bonus grandchildren Skyy Stafford, Tyler Gordon, Jaydan Hutchinson, and Alayah Hutchinson; three sisters Linda (Raymond) Wright of Columbus, OH, Karen (Clinton) Sanderman of Cincinnati, OH, and Wendy Adams of Columbia, SC; brother Kenneth Lane of Utrecth, Holland; mother-in-law Lillian    Carmichael; two sisters-in-law Tina Boston, Thomesana (Garrett) Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Arzander (Marla) Carmichael, Bill (Zandra) Carmichael, and Curtis Carmichael; one uncle James D.
