Today we come to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Muldrow Thomas (Liz, Lil, G-Ma, Mema). She was born on April 7, 1949, to the late Reynolds Muldrow and Ella Mae Myers Muldrow McDaniel of Florence, SC and was the youngest daughter of three girls. The lord called Liz home on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023.
She was born and raised in Florence, SC and graduated from Wilson High School Class of 1968. Liz went on to attend Southside Vocational School of Nursing before completing cosmetology training at Chris Logan Beauty Cosmetology College of Florence. Upon completing cosmetology college, Liz opened her own business called, “Something Different Styling Salon”. Previously, she worked for former businesses Alexander Department Store and the Winn Dixie grocery store.
Liz accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the early age of 11 and joined Trinity Baptist Church. Before becoming ill, she was a devoted and active member for 63 years. During her life of service to Christ, she spent over 20 years as a nursery school teacher at Trinity Baptist Church; a job in which she truly loved. She served on many ministries and organizations within the church. She was a member of the youth and adult gospel choirs, Martha Missionary Circle, Culinary Ministry, served on the Trustee Board for several years, and a member and leader of the Trinity Baptist Church Girl Scouts. Occasionally, she provided catering services for the church and other organizations.
Liz was a dedicated, devoted, and faithful member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World for over 30 years. During this time, she served as Daughter Ruler of Liberty Temple #800 in Florence, Vice President of Pearl of the Pee Dee, Director of State Beauty and Talent for South Carolina, served on the National Beauty and Talent committee, received Past State President honor, Past Grand Daughter (the highest honor bestowed to a daughter of the Elks), and was a member of education, youth, social session, and hospitality departments. She was a member of the Circle Park Behavioral Health Service board for several years. She was president of her graduating class of 1968 and was a founding member of the Wilson High School Alumni Association, serving for many years.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and stepfather, James McDaniel.
She leaves to mourn her cherished memories a loving and supportive son Terrance (Tee) Thomas of Texas; her devoted sisters Sarah Rether Muldrow of Florence and Evelyn Muldrow of Columbia; her three beautiful grandchildren Taliah Elizabeth (Ace) Thomas of Columbia, Quentin Earl Thomas, and Ella Jean Thomas of Texas; also included are a host of other loving relatives, cousins, nieces, nephews, and loyal friends.
