On Sunday, April 23, 2023, Ervin B. Richardson, a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend entered into eternal rest at the age of 66. Mr. Ervin B. Richardson was born in Marion County on November 26, 1956 to the late Willie and Vivian Richardson.
He was a 1976 graduate of Britton Neck High School where he was a standout basketball player for the Green Devils. Ervin loved sports and excelled at basketball and baseball. He was a valued 2nd baseman with the Gresham Braves. He also loved to be outside in nature. If it moved he tried to shoot it and if it swam he tried to catch it. He could always be found at one of the landings just fishing of the dock or walking the woods. He found so much pleasure in being able to say he didn’t waste a shot, but that can be debated when the only witness are the trees in the forest.
He worked at Wellman in Johnsonville, SC for 27 years where he made a host of lifetime friends. After leaving Wellman he was a heavy equipment operator for a number of years before retiring.
He was married to Carolyn G.R. Smith and to this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Vivian Richardson; a brother Gilbert Richardson.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories two sons Myron Lashone Richardson, Ervin Jawun (Krystal) Richardson; seven sisters Patricia Stuckey, Genia (Jacob) Rowell, Annie Richardson, Willia Mae Richardson, Gloria (Ernest) Belin, Elaine Richardson, Evelyn Richardson; one brother Rudolph (Annette) Richardson; one sister-in-law Margaret Richardson; two aunts Louise Richardson and Bobbie Sampson; three grandchildren Myron J. Richardson, Ervin J. Richardson, Ezekiel A. Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Ervin had a few very special friends that always kept in touch and checked in on him at all times, Lynn Demery, Phillip Moore, William Carl Owens, Fred Boatwright and Larry Johnson. He also had a friend that he spent time with Joanne Boatwright. A faithful nurse Joanie Pfhal who always went above and beyond to assist him.
