Esau Lewis Jr. Obituary

Esau Lewis Jr., a devoted family man, steadfast friend, and respected professional, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born to the late Esau Lewis Sr. and Christine Lewis, he was raised in Florence County, where he built lifelong connections and cherished memories.

Esau attended school in Florence County and graduated from South Florence High School, setting the foundation for a life marked by hard work and dedication. He spent over 40 years as a professional trucker, navigating the open road with a skill and passion that earned him admiration and respect.

A proud Dallas Cowboys fan, Esau’s love for the game was as steadfast as his love for his family. Sundays were often filled with football and fellowship, his laughter and enthusiasm filling the room.

After retiring in 2020, Esau devoted his days to helping others. His generous spirit and willingness to lend a hand made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He often spoke with pride about his children and grandchildren, finding joy in their accomplishments and cherishing every moment shared.

Besides his parents, Esau was preceded in death by his beloved son, Frederick Rose; grandson, Attias Cade; and son-in-law, Joseph Etheridge Jr.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Maryann Lewis, whose partnership brought warmth and joy to his life. His legacy lives on through his children, Monique Cade (alongside her mother and friend of Esau, Carolyn Cade), Patrick Rose and his wife Michelle Rose, Timothy Lewis, Travis Lewis, and Monica Acolatse and her husband McDonald Acolatse, who carry forward his strength and wisdom. Esau is also survived by his siblings, Oneatha Jones, Quillie Lewis, James (Smiley) Lewis, Joe Lewis, Ernestine Grice, Shirley Lewis, and Johnny Bartell, along with his cherished

grandchildren: Tajai Lewis, Mastasia Lewis, Shakyra Tindal, Terionna Chestnut, Raekwon Speaks, Jamal Lewis, Raekwon Lewis, Taylor Lewis, Nigel Cade, Jaylen Acolatse, James Etheridge, Jianna Acolatse, Patrick Rose Jr., Mason Rose, Jordan Acolatse, Destiny Rose, and Esauriah Rose.

Esau’s legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering loyalty. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will forever guide those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
