Gertrude Jakes Williams was born to Hannah Jakes and Blease Jakes on   August 24, 1948 in Florence, South Carolina. On Saturday, June 3, 2023, her mortality took on immortality, as she quietly slipped away from those who adored her most.

She was a devoted employee of  Anvil Knit Wear and later pursued her career as a devoted, dedicated caregiver to many people in the community.

Gertrude was united in Holy Matrimony to Timothy Williams on June 3, 1971.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Author Jakes and Solomon Purcha and four sisters.

Sadly, Gertrude leaves behind cherished memories,  husband Timothy Williams, daughter Marcia Williams (Terell Thomas), one grandson, Timothy Barr, one sister Leche Woods, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, special daughter, sons other relatives and friends.
