Harold J. Fleming Obituary

Harold J. Fleming, age 82, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. He was born on March 29, 1942, in Florence, SC.


Harold graduated from Wilson High School, Class of 1960, where he was a star basketball player, and later attended Allen University before moving to New York City. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, NY, where he served for 31 years.


A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Harold lived a full and impactful life. He was known for his kindness, humor, and generosity, and he had a deep love for his family and the Lord. Harold’s life was marked by his devotion to both his family and his faith.


He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Pauline Fleming-Middleton, mother, Lela Scott, grandfather Alexander Fleming, son Trevais Fleming, sisters Annie Ruth Scott, Lena Sheprad, Barbara Ann Smith, Azalee Williams, very special nephews Jimmy Williams and Hiliard Williams Jr.


Harold is survived by his loving wife Susan Fleming; son Gregory Fleming; daughter Alexis Fleming; grandchildren Quintin Wright, April Herbert, Justin Fleming, Madison Warrell, and Avi Moore; two great-grandchildren Hosea Weaver and Laila Weaver; siblings Hilliard (Gwendolyn) Williams, Kenneth (Mary) Scott, Randolph Scott, Ricky Williams, and Emma Jane (Larry) Washington; very special in-laws Martin (Lucy) Trachtenberg,  Cheryl Malmad and nephew Spencer Malmad; two special bonus children Gerard Warrell and Stephanie Gilbert-Patterson; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who he deeply loved.
