Mr. James Earl Goldwire was born February 18, 1948, in Florence, South Carolina to George and Albertha Goldwire. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Mr. Goldwire graduated from Wilson High School. He was very active and proud of his Wilson Purple and Gold Tigers. He was a member of the Wilson High School Class of 1966 as well as the Wilson High School Alumni Association. He was inducted into the Wilson High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, Inc. and served as President of the Overachievers Scholarship Program for graduating seniors.
He was currently employed with Brockington Elementary Magnet School in Darlington, SC where he was a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant. He also served with Florence School District One. He retired from the Florence Morning News as a Printing Press Operator and was employed at Walmart for ten years.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Albertha Goldwire, one daughter Cuemella McAllister, four brothers Thomas Goldwire, Charles Manago, Dennis Manago, Willie Bee Ellison and sister Ernestine Goldwire Adams.
He is survived by six children: James S. (Ketra) Goldwire, Vanessa (Andrew) Belin, Clement Bacote, Frederick Bacote, Pamela Thomas and Larry Bacote; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; bonus children Felicia Jett Melvin, Elder Earnest (Elder Garnett) Jett, Robin (Miquel) Jett-Williams and DaWanda (David) Richardson; cousins Rev. Peggy (Rev. John) McKenney and Henry L. Davis and two special friends Geraldine Jett and Eunice Bacote.
