James Washington was born November 13, 1957, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Kalip and Bessie Washington. On June 14, 2025, he peacefully entered his heavenly eternal rest at McLeod Hospice in Florence, South Carolina.

James was educated in the public school of Williamsburg County, South Carolina class of 1977.

James was a member of New St. Mary Independence Holiness Church. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering faith in God.

James was a dedicated and hardworking father, loving grandfather, wonderful brother and a friend to all those who knew him.

James was employed by Wellman Industries, Inc. for many years in Johnsonville, SC, House of Raeford Farms, Inc. of Nesmith, SC and Stuckey Brothers in Hemingway, SC.

James was preceded in death by his parents Kalip and Bessie Washington; two sons Olando and Orando Timmons; wife Kaybertha Washington; two brothers and two sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons Otis (Sheena) Timmons, Quincy Washington and Johnny (Yolonda) Washington all of Nesmith, SC; seventeen grandchildren; sisters Lille Brown and Betty McCray of  Hemingway, SC, Mary(Columbus) Addison and Deloris (Wilbur) Cooper of Nesmith, SC, Carylon (Eddie) Miller, Dorthy Rose and Brenda Guy all of Wilmington, DE; brothers Charles Eaddy of New Haven, CT,  Joseph Washington and Kalip Washington of  Hemingway, SC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
