“Mua Bird”, as she was so affectionately called, was born July 15, 1965 to her loving parents Alfred Hicks Jr. II & Margaret C. Baker-Hicks. She gained her wings May 28, 2025.

Mua Bird received her education at Florence District 1 Schools, graduating from Wilson High School Class Of 1983. 

Mua Bird enjoyed spending time with her son, her partner, her granddaughters, her family & her friends. She loved going to the beach with her family & she loved her Chinese food. She never met a stranger; she was a woman of many words, always saying what's on her mind. She will truly be missed by those who loved her.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her beautiful mother Margaret C. Baker-Hicks, brother Alfred Hicks Jr. III, step-son Marcus Ellis, sister-in-law Charito Hicks & great-nephews Joseph & James Hicks.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her son Micheal (ReKay) Hicks; her granddaughters Michelle & Asha McElveen; partner for 20+ years Melton “Soup” Campbell; step-sons Micheal “Sport” Middleton & Lamont Simpson; her loving father Alfred Hicks Jr. II; siblings Richard (Shelia) Hicks, Dorsey Hicks, John Hicks, Alfreda Hicks, Jermaine Hicks & Claudette (Elroy) Myers; uncles Benny Baker, James “Bones” Johnson, Randolph “Dog” Brown, Elijah “Snake” Baker and Alexander “Wop” Bake r; aunts Earline Hicks, Gracie Johnson, Martha Ann Baker & Clarice Johnson; nephews Joseph Davis, Tracey (Dakoda Dwyer) McKithen II, Jonathan (Kia Brown) Strait & Nicholas Daniels; nieces Porsha Hicks, Jade (Kevin Howard) Walker, Alexis (Isaiah) Andrews and Destiny Hicks; great-nephews Tyquez Hicks, Shaikeem Hicks, Kameron McKithen, Kobe McKithen and Elijah Andrews; great-nieces Joniya Davis, Janiya Bray and Kori Bay McKithen; very close dear friends Lillie James, Ernestine McCullum, Kathy Davis, Loretta Johnson, Deacon Robert Jones, Randy Murray, Benjamin Murray, Deborah Johnson, Joan Myers, Felicia Essang and Rebecca Strait; a host of other relatives and friends.
