On March 8, 1972, God blessed this world with the life of Jerome Delosh Delacie Pickens, affectionately known as “Losh” and “Disco.” He was born in Florence, South Carolina, to the late Peggy Lee Shields‑Pickens and Jerome Pickens. On April 24, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called Losh from labor to reward, granting him eternal rest.
Losh was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. His presence was a gift, and his love for family and community was unwavering. He was known for his humor, his strength, his protective nature, and his ability to bring joy wherever he went.
Losh received his education in the Florence County School System, attending West Florence High School and later continuing his studies at Poyner School. In 1996, he began his lifelong career as a truck driver. He proudly operated K & N Trucking, working faithfully alongside his nephew and mentee, Shyheem Pickens, whom he guided with patience, discipline, and dedication.
On February 18, 1999, Losh united in holy matrimony with Karen Wright‑Pickens, and together they shared 27 years of love, partnership, and commitment. Losh enjoyed motorcycles—especially his Harley‑Davidson—weightlifting, basketball, and cheering for his favorite teams, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved good food, good company, and his many gadgets. He was known to fall asleep mid‑conversation and wake up ready to continue as if he had never drifted off. His PS5 brought him countless hours of enjoyment, and his laughter brought joy to all who knew him.
Losh accepted Christ at an early age at Olive Grove Baptist Church in Coward, South Carolina. He later attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lake City, South Carolina. His faith anchored his life and shaped his character.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Karen Wright‑Pickens; children, Shanekqua “Nek Nek” Pickens of Florence, SC, Moesha Graham of Irmo, SC, Kayla “Fatback” (Dajon) McFadden of Florence, SC, Willie “JD” Pickens of Florence, SC, and reared as a daughter, Jakeria Singletary of Lake City, SC; grandchildren, Myles Graham, Mason Wright, Noa McFadden, Yuri “Hey NaNa” Pickens and Jasiah McFadden; father, Jerome Pickens of Effingham, SC; sister Cherise Dainelle Pickens of Effingham, SC; grandparents, Sam (Flora) Brown of Effingham, SC, and Merka Taylor of Newark, NJ; mother‑in‑law, Priscilla Ann (Lerome) Singletary of Lake City, SC; father‑in‑law, Richard (Gwen) McKnight of Jacksonville, NC; sisters‑in‑law, Tammy Singletary of Lake City, SC; Chaka McKnight of Jacksonville, NC; Jannie (Shanga) Oliver of Orangeburg, SC; Shauni McKnight of Jacksonville, NC; and Nikita Edwards of Florence, SC; brothers‑in‑law, Lathron Smith of Memphis, TN; Tyrone Singletary of Greenville, SC; and Lonzeron Singletary of Manning, SC; special Aunts, Elizabeth Smith, Doris (Nathaniel) Lockhart, Magalene Matthews, Helen Butler, Yvonne Brown, Caysaundra (David) Burr, Glacier Mason, and Harlissa Hannah; special Uncles, George Donnie (Aquilla) Brown, Norris (Vivian) Brown, and Billie (Thomasina) Brown; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also remain to honor his memory. He is lovingly remembered by his best friends/brothers, James Lloyds of Baltimore, MD, and Anthony Davis, his riding partner and friend; and by his motherly figure, Betty Frierson of Florence, SC.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Lee Shields‑Pickens; his sister, Rhonda Lynn Pickens; and his great‑grandmother, Marceila Shields.
Though Losh has departed this earthly life, the love he shared, the joy he brought, and the legacy he built will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him. We thank God for the years He allowed us to share with him and for the memories that will continue to comfort us in the days ahead.
