My name is Jesse Jones. I was born on November 22, 1934 to Lillie Mae and Charles Jones in Florence County. On April 20, 2024, I slipped away peacefully from earth into eternity.
I received my formal education in Florence School District One schools. My work employment included Turbeville Grocery, RC Cola Company and Cain Funeral Home until I opened my own business Jones Groceries for many years. Later, I started Jones Roofing Company. I had a thriving business for over sixty years until my health declined.
I enjoyed living life and helping people, playing and coaching baseball for many years with the Black Socks.
I was preceded in death by my parents, loving wife Jeanette Jones, daughter Olivia Williams, son Maxie Williams, two brothers Lamor Johnson and Andrew Jones, three sisters Marie Abraham, Carrie Lloyd and Elizabeth Bryant, one nephew K.C. Jones and one niece Teresa Abraham.
I leave behind to cherish my precious memories, my children Kenneth (Priscilla) Williams, Vanessa Williams, Deondray (Domonique) James, Elizabeth Thompson, Kenneth (Norma) Jones, Lorraine Peoples and Willie Jones; one sister Hester (Tommy) Whaley; brother Jack McElveen; grandson Genquez Williams of the home and Mr. L. Gregg; special granddaughter Kandice Williams; three sisters-in-law Ethelene (Otis) James, Renell Jones and Elizabeth (Leotha) Stephens; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and community members.
Jesse was a LEGEND OF C BLOCK AND A PILLAR OF THE COMMUNITY! He will be greatly missed.
