Johnny Lee McCoy was born on April 18, 1952 to Hezzie and Pauline McCoy. He left this earthly realm on May 19, 2025.
He was a lifelong resident of Florence, South Carolina and a graduate of Wilson High School class of 1972.
He was a star basketball player during his high school years, going on to be selected to the All State team. He was a person who loved people and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
He was baptized as a child in September 1961. Just recently he recommitted himself to God and was baptized again.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Edward and Calvin, four sisters, Mary, Doris, Gail and Loretta.
He leaves behind one son, Kenneth Nicholas Gerad Gettis; nephew, Christopher Derrick Gettis who was raised in the home, both of Florence, SC; one granddaughter, Twaneisha Graham of Sumter, SC; three sisters, Diane (Franklin) Ellis and Maggie McCoy, both of Florence, SC and Pearlene Jones of Rochester, New York; two brothers, Elder Norman (Shirley) McCoy and William (Camilla) McCoy, both of Florence, SC; a large host of family and friends.
