Obituary

Ms. Joyce Ann Simon, benevolently known as Forty & Joy, was born February 14, 1965, in Florence County to the late Walter Simon and Christine Simon. She departed her early life on June 8, 2023.

After graduating from Hannah Pamplico High in 1984, Joyce discovered her passion for caregiving. It was a calling that resonated deeply within her, and she dedicated herself to providing care and support to those who were unable to care for themselves. Joyce's dedication to caregiving continued until the end of her life. She was unwavering in her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, providing comfort and support in their time of need.

Joyce joined St Luke AME church at an early age, where she actively participated in the choir, as well as the usher board. During her visits home, Joyce made it a point to worship at St. Luke. Upon relocating, Joyce joined Willow Grove AME church in 2018 and  accepted Christ as her lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At Willow Grove AME church, Joyce was an active and dedicated member who volunteered unselfishly wherever she was needed. She was a member of the Senior Choir and a member of the Usher Board. She loved her church family and loved singing.

Above all, Joyce held a deep love for her sons and grandchildren, as well as her extended family. Her family felt her affection and care deeply, knowing they could always rely on her unwavering support and love. Joyce's willingness to lend a helping hand at family gatherings and church events was always appreciated and embraced by those around her. Joyce touched the lives of many with her vibrant personality and contagious joy. The love and blessings she shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her selflessness and eagerness to assist others were testaments to her kind heart and giving spirit.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Walter Simon, maternal grandparents Ozell & Artie Misha Davis-Belin, paternal grandparents Stuckey Simon and Melissa Graham Simon, five aunts and six uncles.
