Jy'Rek Prince Obituary

I was given the name of Jy’Rek Monta’ Prince at birth. I am better known as Jy in my momma words, but to most I am BlockBoy Jy. I was born October 30, 2003, in Florence, SC, the son of Moneik Prince and Kirk Joyner. My life’s journey on earth ended on November 15, 2024.

I graduated from Lee Central High School, class of 2022. I received my High School Diploma, associates, and my welding certificates. After graduating high school I worked several jobs, my most recent being Target Distribution. I was following my dream of being a rapper, and there I was making my way to the top as Lynchburg, SC’s hottest artist. I loved my family with everything in me. I gained a family that was not blood, and blood could not make us any closer. Throughout the life I lived, I had the chance to experience LOVE, AFFECTION, and     GRATITUDE, which made life feel extraordinary even during its most difficult moments. I was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and mostly a loyal and dedicated human being. For all whom played a part in my life, THANK YOU! This is not a goodbye, but a farewell.

“JY” was preceded in death by his sister Ty’Aysa Zybrina Smith, grandmothers Betty Prince and Jaqueline Fulmore, uncles Antron  Hanna and James Prince, and best friend Tavaris Dolford.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his loving mother Moneik Prince; his father Kirk Joyner; five brothers Terrance Smith, Mylique and Rajhique McFadden, Kirk Joyner Jr., and Terion Smith; two sisters Montana James and Tyriona Smith; two grandfathers David McFadden and John King; two great grandmothers Anna McFadden and Alline Nance; several aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends that was bros and sis’s. Jy shared a special bond with his Aunt Victoria Thomas and uncle Antonio Lowery; one nephew Messiah McFadden. He loved his godmother Dekola Prince dearly and the love he shared with his god sisters and brother was unbelievable. Jayda, Akirah, ZyKirah, Nyi’Zeair and Aniya. Jy had a soft spot for a lot of people but for his cousins he acknowledges as sister Ja’Mya Prince and brother Lawerence Burroughs, they knew he was riding with them until the wheels came off. His best friend, Zayquawn Jones, you all knew Jy heart and each an everyone of you played a special part in his life. So, allow him tocontinue to live life through you.
