Mrs. Mary Alice Cooper was born May 7,1957 in Hollywood, FL, to the late Edward James Polite and late Oral Lee Fleming Polite. On Friday morning, March 13, 2026, God in His power and infinite wisdom saw fit to call his beloved daughter Mary Alice Cooper, to eternal rest at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, after a sudden illness.

Mary received her formal education in the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Lake City High School. Mary worked various jobs as a CNA, Home Health Aide and Housekeeping. She was employed with  Applewhite’s Homecare before her health declined.

Mary fervently prayed and asked God to lead her to a church that exhibited and encouraged spiritual growth, accepted imperfection and a leader that taught and lived by the Word of God. Mary joined Faith United Methodist Church in 2023.

Mary would do anything to help her family and friends. She loved reading her bible daily, cooking  delicious meals, decorating her home and playing solitaire on her tablet. She loved and adored her fur baby Cruz. She was looking forward to her great-grand “Baby Nugget" to be born.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Melvin Cameron and Terry Polite, and  sister Wyona Beckett.

Those left to cherish her memories are her only devoted daughter Kimberly (Alvin) Ward of Timmonsville, SC; the love of her life Mr. Malachi Singletary of Lake City, SC; her fur baby whom she called her “son” Cruz; four grandchildren Tyree Ward of Florence, SC, Al’vonte (Breanna) Ward of Timmonsville, SC, Staff Sgt. Diamond Ward of Belleville, IL and Alvion Ward of Timmonsville, SC; three great-grands; one god-daughter, AdaLynn McCray; one loving sister, Cheryl (Elijah) Hannah of Kingstree, SC; four brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Beckett of East Chicago, IN, James (Faye) Polite of Lake City, SC, Larry (Jackie) Polite of Richmond, VA, and Lafayette (Milan) Polite of Brandwine, MD; one aunt Gerona (Albert) Jenkins of Lake City, SC; a special  sister-in-law Thomasina Polite of Florence, SC; loyal friends Rozalyn James, Rosemary Jackson, Shirley Mcfadden, Chamell Mcfadden and Ronald  Alford all of Lake City, SC; numerous nieces, nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
