Mary Walker Obituary

Ms. Mary Magdalene Walker was born February 2, 1947, in Aiken, SC. She was the child born to the late Luella Walker and James “Octavius” Stevens. Her grandparents were the late Charlie and Mary Magdalene Stewart   Walker and the late James and Lizzie Stevens, Sr.

 She was baptized in Jesus name and received the Holy Ghost at a young age and joined the Old Storm Branch Baptist Church in Beech Island, SC. She later relocated to Newark, New Jersey and reunited with Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as vice president of the usher board, under the leadership of Pastor Elton Byrd. She moved back to the South Carolina,  resuming her membership with Mission of Faith Apostolic Ministries, where she served faithfully with various ministries as the church mother until she transitioned to claim her mansion as      promised by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mary was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Bath, SC. She always kept up with the latest fashions and hairstyles. She returned with over 30 years as a family Parent Coordinator from   Newark Preschool Council in Newark, NJ. She also served as the president of Scudder Home Association.

On February 1, 2023, God called Mary home, one day before turning 76 years of age from labor to reward. Mary was preceded in celebration of life by her mother, Luella Walker, father, James Stevens, sister, Frances Nixon, brother, Willie J. Walker and brother-in-law, Robert Nixon, Sr.

Memories of her will be cherished by her daughter, Evangelist Sharonda W. Hamilton, Florence, SC, a son, Deitrick (Begonia) Walker, Kissimmee, FL, daughter, Desiree B. Walker, New Jersey; three granddaughters, Taijah Walker, Taahirah Walker and Tina Boykins; two grandsons Nafysis Miller and Isiah Gillian, five great-grandchildren; Aminah, Jayden, Jordan, Braylon, and Harley; a sister, Daisy (Thomas) Drayton, Sr, Evans, GA.; two brothers, John (Vivian) McGruder and Bobby Walker, Beech Island, SC, sister in law, Geneva Walker, Beech Island, SC; one uncle, William (Ann) Walker, North Augusta, SC; one aunt, Mamie Walker, Beech Island, SC; godparents, Valarie (James) Carroll, New Jersey; three godchildren, Tarik Miller, Bassirrah Miller and Kenyour Watson, New Jersey;  special Friends, Evelyn Burrington, New Jersey, Laverne Wyatt, Clara Locust and Ivery Jackson, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
