Maxine McWhite Obituary
Maxine McWhite born on July 9, 1953 and raised in Goodland, she clearly was born with a giving heart and spirit. She entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2024.
She was a retired employee with Commander Nursing Home. She loved baseball and so does the entire Johnson family. Maxine grew up having a strong family first foundation. Maxine honored and respected all whom she crossed paths with. Maxine also instilled those same principles into her children Evonne, Akiem, Oshunda and Rebecca.
Maxine aka “It” didn’t play when it came to kids being respectful! When you enter her house, you had better be sure to speak! Yes ma’am and no ma’am! And if she ever gave you that look you knew she meant business! Or you’d get that behind tore up! Possibly with a wooden spoon! Family was everything to her. The bond she had with her sisters Dianne and Mae will forever be unbreakable. These three women are a core strength to the Johnson family. They didn’t have to wait for holidays or deaths to have family gatherings. Every chance they got they were at each other’s houses with the kids creating lifelong memories. They made sure the family stayed together as a unit! And now sadly with the passing of our beloved Maxine. It will be up to the rest of the family, the current and upcoming generation, to keep it going. She would have wanted that. I want you all to remember, never compare your grief, walk your path. We don’t have control over many things in life and death. But we do have control over how we treat people while they are here! There is no right way to grieve, there is only your way. Find your peace because Maxine “It” would want it that way! So family, friends and all loved ones, remember her and be happy! Remember that her last few days here on earth were filled with love and faces that gave her comfort. She will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
Maxine was preceded in death by two brothers Willie McCallister and Bernard Johnson.
Maxine left behind to cherish precious memories four children Evonne Johnson, Akiem Johnson, Oshunda (Jerryco) Quillin, Rebecca Campbell (Kevin) Timmons; eight grandchildren Aaliyah Johnson, Ty’Quan Johnson, Rahiem Taylor, Randyn Flowers, Ashlyn Flowers, Gracelyn Flowers, Catherine Reece, Dominque Baxley; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters Carrie Johnson, Diane Smith and Betty Bines, sister-in-law Veronica McCallister; very special niece Lashawn Smith, special nephews Meco Johnson, Eric Johnson and Picasso Smith; a host of other relatives and friends.
