Milton Evans Obituary

Milton Ladson Evans was called to the Upper Room on Friday morning August 29, 2025.  He was born on November 29, 1969 to the late Grandison Evans and the late Catherine Ashley Pendergrass.


Milton was a 1988 graduate of Wilson High School where he was a student bus driver for two years. He attended as many of Wilson's Homecoming events as time and work allowed.


Milton met his wife Rebecca Melissa James Evans in middle school  and they reunited in 1988.  After the approval of her father and grandmother, they dated for years.They were joined in matrimony March 31, 1995.


Milton joined the United States Army as a Diesel Mechanic in 1988. He later received his Jump Wings and was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was deployed to the Desert Storm from 1991 to 1992. He received several awards, accolades and was Honorably Discharged in 1995. Once discharged from the Army, he briefly worked as a security guard.  After deciding that was not for him, he  became a truck driver. He began driving for Schneider National  Trucking Company, after completing training with them. He worked for various companies in the span of his 30 year career. He ended his career driving for Premier Transportation, first as an employee, remaining with them as an owner operator until he became too ill to continue.


Milton was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents Ulysses and Virginia Evans;his maternal grandparents Clifton (TY) Ashley and Katie Session; aunts Diane Manor, Marie Cooper, and Joan Judy Ashley Kelly; and uncle Heyward Bernard Ashley.


Surviving are his wife of 30 years Rebecca Melissa Evans; brother Kevin Fulton; uncles Marvin (Clarisse) Ashley, Ronnie Ashley, Wayne Ashley, and Calvin (Dorothy) Evans; aunt Linda Ashley; great uncle Ben (Dorothy) Session; father and mother-in-law Charlie and Rebecca James; brothers-in-law Charles (Elizabeth) James and Micheal  (Jennifer) James; sisters-in-law Shafronia Yvette (Gene) Blakemore, Shaquana James, and Shelonda James; nephew Quashawn Davis; nieces Adeija King, Kentara Fulton, Ka’nesha Fulton, and Calesha Brown; special friends and their children Will and Denise Wilson, Kamisha Paterson, Fletcher (Marty) Johnson, Aryadna Norman, and Hydia  Wilson. A host of other family and friends.
