Barbara P. Thomas transitioned from her earthly home at 5:15 on May 20, 2024 at the residence of her sister, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Florence County on November 6, 1957 to Fred Alexander Pettigrew and Ida Bell Hawkins Pettigrew.

In her early childhood Barbara attended the public schools of Florence District Four. She was a graduate of Timmonsville High School Class of 1976.

She was a loving and caring soul with a servant’s heart in the ministry. She became the pastor of New Beginning Ministry of Deliverance in 2008 and continue to pastor until her passing. Barbara worked at Edisto High School for eight years as a custodian in Edisto, SC. She also had a great love for flowers and her dogs Christine, Hollywood and Rudy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bishop George Thomas, parents Fred Alexander Pettigrew and Ida Bell Pettigrew.

Although she’s gone, she leaves precious memories to be cherished by her two sons Madray Tynette Pettigrew and Antwan Thomas; four grandchildren Jayla, Kemaya, Shia and Khmonie; five sisters Mamie Miller, Annette (Curtis) McAllister, Mae Helen Pettigrew, Ida Ree Pettigrew, Veronica Pettigrew; three brothers David Pettigrew, Alex (Deloris) Pettigrew, Kenneth Robinson; one brother-in-law Rudy Thomas; two aunts Barbra Welcher and Maggie Mack; one uncle Simon (Fronnie) Pettigrew; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Mrs. Lena Moultrie and Mrs. Loris Sanders.
